Job Description

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Delaware (UD) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track assistant professor position to begin August 2025.

The search seeks candidates conducting research in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in domains including cybersecurity, networks, communications, controls and dynamical systems, and information sciences. Fundamental advancements in algorithms or implementation are highly encouraged, as are additional multidisciplinary interests that explore connections with topics or fields such as biology, healthcare, mathematics, statistics, physics, nanotechnology, chip design, advanced manufacturing, software security, and autonomous, computer, cyber-physical, robotics, and energy systems.

The ECE Department has active undergraduate and graduate programs in electrical engineering, computer engineering and cybersecurity (including a BS in Cybersecurity Engineering), and a diverse portfolio of research in the areas related to artificial intelligence including machine learning, data science, cybersecurity, computer engineering, communications, signal processing, and controls. In addition to state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities on Main Campus, faculty in ECE and the Department of Computer and Information Sciences share approximately 11,000 sqft at UD’s new FinTech Innovation Hub, bringing together research groups in areas of machine learning, AI, cybersecurity, and high-performance computing.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering or a closely related field at the time of hire. Candidates are expected to show exceptional promise for, or a proven record of, cross-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research achievements, as well as commitment for excellence in undergraduate and graduate education. They will be expected to secure external sources of funding to develop a strong research program and to achieve a position of leadership in their field of study.
