We are seeking a Tactical Planner to perform work on the Electrical Power Distribution Systems at the Sandia National Laboratories New Mexico site.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Develop detailed scope for electrical projects.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems, including the use of Dranetz to determine power quality and for power diagnostics.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance plans.
- Under the direction of an engineer, develop designs for maintenance and minor construction activities.
- Perform electrical design reviews.
- Provide input into the asset management program for the low voltage (LV) and high voltage (HV) systems to enable the appropriate life cycle management of LV/HV system components.
- Coordinate power outages, manage preventative maintenance program schedules, and coordinate performance testing activities between engineers, maintenance, and service providers.
- Manage procedures that ensure safe work practices and define proper procedures for using and maintain related maintenance equipment.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
Salary Range:
$70,200 - $135,400
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline plus 5 years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience (Associate’s degree in a relevant discipline plus 9 years of relevant experience, or a High School diploma plus 13 years of relevant experience).
- Experience working in a facilities organization, engineering firm, construction industry, or inspection with electrical design experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an active DOE L-level security clearance.
Qualifications We Desire:
- Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering and the ability to obtain a PE license.
- Experience with the following:
- Current electrical codes and standards (NEC, NFPA 70E).
- Scoping detailed electrical projects.
- Troubleshooting electrical systems, including the use of Dranetz to determine power quality and for power diagnostics.
- Arc Flash Hazard calculations and software, short circuit, and load flow calculations. Computerized facilities management systems such as Maximo, TRIRIGA, or other similar software platforms.
- Experience working in a facilities management and maintenance organization.
- Familiar with NNSA, DOE, or other federal government requirements.
- Demonstrated experience with:
- Design under the direction of an experienced engineer.
- Coordination of power outages.
- Developing and implementing a preventative maintenance plan.
- Demonstrated analytical and reasoning skills necessary to identify and resolve electrical risk issues with the mission in mind and assist in making recommendations to system/operations engineers and management.
- Knowledge of high voltage.
- Working knowledge and understanding in Facilities engineering, design, and construction as well as industry standard methodologies.
- Proven ability to initiate effective internal customer relationships.
- Ability to successfully plan, organize, lead, and monitor team efforts to completion as well as effectively prioritize and implement multiple high rigor tasks in a high-pressure environment.
About Our Team:
The Electrical Engineering Department is responsible for daily electrical system operations, lifecycle asset management (LCAM) planning (tactical and strategic) for electrical systems, and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) for electrical systems and components. The department addresses daily electrical system issues, performs minor electrical system designs, conducts design reviews, asset health monitoring, operational and asset failure data analytics, failure mode effects analysis, and asset criticality assessments to support LCAM planning and sustainment. The department develops lifecycle asset management plans (LCAMPs), asset specific RCM maintenance strategies & plans, and manages the design manual and specifications.
