Job Description

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Microsoft System Administrator plays a pivotal role in maintaining and supporting the operational stability of the organization’s IT infrastructure. This position manages, configures, and optimizes Windows-based systems and core Microsoft services within the organization’s technology ecosystem, ensuring reliable system availability and adherence to security best practices. This position directly contributes to building a stable and scalable technology foundation that supports both current operational requirements and future organizational growth. Key areas of focus include daily management of on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure, mobile device management, and effective collaboration across IT and user groups.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conducts installation, configuration, and ongoing management of Windows Servers to ensure a resilient technology ecosystem that meets user and organizational needs.
Implements system security and performance updates, monitors server health, and executes proactive maintenance tasks.
Builds and maintains technology infrastructure that supports operational stability and scalable growth, allowing users to operate within a secure and efficient environment.
Performs routine and essential management of virtual and physical systems.
Administers Microsoft 365 and Intune platforms, including the full lifecycle management of user accounts, permissions, and mobile device configurations.
Supports the VMware infrastructure by managing essential virtualization tasks, including provisioning, monitoring, and resource allocation for virtual machines.
Provision new users, enforce compliance with security policies, and manage user access across on-premises and cloud resources.
Performs regular backups and recovery operations, contributing to data protection and business continuity efforts.
Manages directory services, specifically user accounts and permissions within Active Directory and Azure Active Directory environments to ensure compliance with access control and security protocols.
Maintains comprehensive documentation of system configurations, incident resolutions, and changes supporting transparency and accountability in IT operations.
Collaborates with IT staff and end users, facilitates clear communication and provides first-level support for system-related issues.
Performs other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience in a technical support role focusing on Windows Server, or VMware; OR a combination of education and work experience to equal six (6) years.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of Windows Server operating systems, foundational system administration principles, and IT service management (ITSM) practices.
Knowledge of Microsoft 365 user account management, Intune mobile device management, and basic cloud infrastructure.
Knowledge of Active Directory and Azure Active Directory for secure user and access management.
Skill in troubleshooting issues across Windows, Microsoft 365, and VMware environments, ensuring timely issue resolution.
Skill in PowerShell scripting for automating tasks across on-premises and cloud systems.
Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with IT colleagues and end users to resolve technical issues and support operational continuity.
Ability to follow established security best practices to support compliance and system integrity.
WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings. May require occasional overnight travel.
