Job Description
Job SummaryThe Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Concord University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Computer Science starting August 2025. Concord offers four computing degrees: Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Cybersecurity, and Data Analytics.
We seek a dynamic and dedicated individual to teach a range of courses across those degree programs. Specialization in Cybersecurity is preferred to support our growing program. Applicants must have a minimum of a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a closely related field; a Ph.D. is strongly preferred and will be required for tenure. Candidates with three to five years of industry and/or teaching experience are especially encouraged to apply. Experience with organizing or coaching cybersecurity competitions (e.g., CTFs) is a plus.
The Department values and supports innovative teaching and participation in undergraduate research, and seeks candidates with similar ideals. The faculty member will be an excellent communicator, have strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrate excellence in undergraduate teaching. They will participate in departmental and college activities and support the Department’s objectives of mentoring students through a culture of scholarship, service, and outreach. The candidate will teach a 12 contact-hour load/ semester.

Develop expectations and assess student learning outcomes.
Effectively teach a wide range of subjects as qualified and assigned.
Participate in development of curricula.
Provide service to the university, which may include:
Participate in program assessment activities
Participate in departmental and college service
Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.

Required Licenses/Certification
Applicants must have a minimum of a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a closely related field; a Ph.D. is strongly preferred and will be required for tenure.
Required Skills
Strong interpersonal abilities with excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.
The ability to deliver lectures, prepare course materials, and evaluate student performance.
The successful candidate must possess demonstrated teaching competency and also must have a strong commitment to, and understanding of, the role of CS education.
