Job Description

Summary

The Biostatistician provides a wide range of intermediate and advanced statistical expertise, guidance, data management and statistical support for clinic and basic research in the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery’s Office of Surgical Research at Baylor College of Medicine. The position is excellent for a biostatistician who is interested in an academic research environment with the opportunity for professional growth.

Job Duties

  • Provide statistical support services for cancer-related research
  • Collaborate with medical and scientific researchers and study teams.
  • Use a variety of intermediate and advanced statistical software, methods, and techniques to gather, analyze, and interpret research data to derive useful information
  • Prepare written reports and presentations summarizing data analysis results, including description of statistical methods, results, and conclusions from summary tables and graphs.
  • Participate the operations and procedures for collection, editing, verification, monitoring and management of study data.
  • Provide teaching assistance for biostatistics courses or workshops at the graduate school.
  • Provide statistical support services to faculty in the Office of Surgical Research

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Biostatistics or a related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Biostatistics, Statistics or related field.
  • Proficiency in statistical software such as SAS, R, or STATA
  • Experience with clinical trial databases and cancer-related research.
  • Strong writing and communication skills with excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.
