Job Description
Summary
The Lead, Research Administration will prepare and maintain reporting templates for spend trend analysis, financial forecasting, and reporting under-and-over spend on all 300+ accounts in the Division. This monitoring of the post-award grant activities includes preparation of the primary financial analysis of the USDA Congressional appropriations and all extramural grants to the CNRC on a bi-monthly basis. This post-award analysis will provide all CNRC stakeholders with bi-monthly expense reports with variance analysis and recommendations for either increased spending or spending slow down.
Employees with CRA certification are eligible for certification pay.
Job Duties
- Communicate College policy to faculty and staff in the departmental section and responds to policy questions.
- Manage labor distributions in the Professional Effort, Planning and Tracking (PEPT) solution to allocate effort and cost for all paid positions.
- Prepare, reviews, and reconciles financial reports and budgets for over 300 accounts in Pediatrics Nutrition section. *Reports directly to all the CNRC faculty and USDA CRIS holders outside of the Department of Pediatrics and communicates with them regarding all grant accounts reconciliation monthly.
- Determine potential account excess and overspend issues and makes recommendations to the Financial Manager to resolve the issues.
- Analyze cost versus revenue for each clinical trial account and reconcile AR transactions.
- Manage all Center for Comparative Medicine-Animal charges for the CNRC. Making sure all the monthly charges are on the correct accounts. Projects and forecasts costs over grant period to determine if expenditure rate is acceptable and shares those findings with the PI’s and the Financial Manager. *Oversee financial management and accountability of the 300+ USDA and extramural accounts for the CNRC. This includes budget administration, monitoring of financial transactions for expense control, and detailed cost assessment reporting on dedicated servers.
- Make strategic decisions with the Financial Manager for spending and personnel management.
- Identify accounts ready for closeout.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree. Certified Research Administrator certification through the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) may substitute for the degree requirement.
- Six years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Research and finance experience, post-award heavy.
- Advanced Excel knowledge.
