Job Description

We are in search of a highly motivated Research Technician to join the Shipp lab at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in cancer biology, immunology, genetics and therapeutics and will function as part of a multidisciplinary basic science and translational team.

Â

The Research Technician will work closely with our multidisciplinary collaborative group to conduct studies focused on understanding immune evasion in aggressive B-cell lymphomas, with a particular emphasis on classical Hodgkin lymphoma. The Research Technician will participate in studies that involve transcriptomic and proteomic analyses, in vitro co-culture assays of immune recognition and function, development of a novel lymphoma-specific organ-on-a-chip model, new drug screening and complementary genomic analyses, under the supervision of a senior post-doctoral fellow. This role provides a valuable learning opportunity in tumor immunology, cancer biology and genomic analysis, offering exposure to cutting-edge techniques and clinical translation. Additionally, participation in regular group meetings will further enrich the technician's understanding of these areas of investigation.

Â

The candidate will perform a variety of experiments, such as blood and primary sample processing, DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, lentiviral vector production and transduction, cell culture of cell lines and primary cells, flow cytometry, cell sorting, and in vitro immunologic assays including novel organ-on-a-chip model systems, collaborate in genomic and spatial analyses of tumor specimens and assist in interpretation of results. The candidate will also perform basic laboratory duties, such as maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment, preparation of solutions, organization of stocks and ordering, and management of the lab biorepository.

We are seeking candidates with at least two years of availability.

  • Support the development and optimization of in vitro co-culture assays of immune evasion and recognition and a novel organ-on-a-chip model.
  • Participate in the design and execution of experiments to elucidate cellular and genetic bases of immune evasion.
  • Participate in the design and execution of experiments to evaluate the efficacy of candidate compounds in reprogramming immune cell activity.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data under the supervision of a senior postdoctoral fellow.
  • Maintain a detailed notebook and accurate records of experimental procedures and results.
  • Keep a clean and orderly work area within the laboratory.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies in a neat and orderly manner.
